The Capital Regional District's(CRD) Sooke and Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) is engaging the community in developing a concept design for the Sooke Skate Park renewal project.

The Sooke Skate Park was built in 1997 by the Rotary Club of Sooke and is currently operated by SEAPARC Recreation. It has reached end-of-life and is identified as a priority in the 2015-2030 SEAPARC Strategic Plan.

Funds have been allocated to complete a concept design which, once complete, will provide a plan for future development and upgrades to the Sooke Skate Park and identify unique features that will enhance user experience.

We have 2 concept designs that we received feedback on

Update September 16, 2024:

Thank you to everybody who participated in our design workshop, initial survey, design presentation and/or concept design feedback survey. The input and support for this project has been fantastic! The next step will be for the consultant to modify the design based on the recent feedback received to finalize the concept design. The intention will be to incorporate as much feedback as possible within our current budget and site topography.

We have received Commission and Board approval to proceed with an alternative approval process to allow borrowing to move this project forward. If we receive this approval from the community, we will be able to proceed with the technical design and build, as well as fundraising/sponsorship to add some additional features, such as more lighting and a covered area.
